We are the Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

2. Personal Data We Collect

We collect personal data that is necessary to operate our website, take orders, fulfil deliveries, and send you the notes the order needs. This may include:

Identity & Contact Data

• Full name
• Email address
• Phone number (including a WhatsApp number if you write to us there)

Address Data

• Shipping address
• Billing address (if different), when you place an order

Order & Transaction Data

• Products ordered and pack sizes
• Order value and payment status
• Order history and related correspondence

Payment Data

• Payment method selected at Razorpay
• Razorpay order id and payment id

We do not store full card numbers, UPI PINs, or banking passwords. Those are handled by Razorpay.

Technical Data

• IP address
• Browser type and device information
• Pages visited (via cookies and Google Analytics, where used)

Communication Data

• Messages you send via email, WhatsApp, or the Website
• Transactional mail we send you (paid receipt, shipped note)

We do not collect date of birth, government ID numbers, or sensitive personal data unless required by law.

We do not knowingly collect personal data of children under 18 years of age.

3. Why We Collect and Use Your Data

Under the DPDP Act, we process personal data only for a lawful purpose with your consent, or for a legitimate use permitted by the Act (for example, where processing is necessary for a specified purpose voluntarily provided by you, or where required or authorised under law). We do not rely on open-ended “legitimate interests” in the GDPR sense.

4. How We Share Your Data

We share personal data only with trusted processors and partners who help us operate, and only for the purposes above:

• Payment: Checkout uses Razorpay (Razorpay Software Private Limited), an RBI-authorised aggregator. Payment credentials are handled by Razorpay, not stored by Absolute Store.
• Orders database: Order records (name, phone, email, address, SKUs, amounts, Razorpay ids) are stored in Supabase.
• Mail: Paid and shipped notes are sent by Resend to the email you gave at checkout.
• Logistics Partners: We use reputed courier partners (including Delhivery where serviceable) for delivery across India. We share name, phone, and address as needed to deliver.
• Analytics Providers: Google Analytics (Google) — traffic and behaviour analysis, often in aggregated form.
• Government / Legal Authorities: Only when required by applicable law.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data for third-party marketing.

WhatsApp is a help channel. If you write to us there, Meta processes that message under WhatsApp’s terms.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary:

• Order, invoice and transaction records: Up to 8 years (Income Tax / GST and related laws), or longer if required for an ongoing dispute
• Account and contact data: Until you request deletion, or up to 3 years after your last interaction (whichever is earlier), subject to legal holds
• Marketing consent data: Until you withdraw consent
• Technical logs and analytics data: Maximum 12 months (or as configured with the provider)

After the retention period, we delete or irreversibly anonymise the data where feasible.

6. Your Rights under the DPDP Act, 2023

Subject to the Act and rules in force, you may have the right to:

• Access a summary of your personal data
• Correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
• Erasure of personal data (subject to legal retention requirements)
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (including marketing and other consent-based processing, not marketing alone)
• Nominate another person to exercise rights in case of death or incapacity

We will acknowledge any grievance within 48 hours and endeavour to resolve it within 30 days. See our Contact page for how to obtain a complaint reference number.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures, including:

• HTTPS encryption on our website
• Access controls on systems that store customer data
• Use of reputable processors (including Razorpay, Resend, and hosting providers) with their own security standards
• Database access rules that limit public read access to other people’s orders

No method of internet transmission or storage is completely secure.

9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We may use:

• Essential cookies / scripts — required for the website to function (including keeping your bag on this device)
• Analytics — Google Analytics (loaded in a deferred manner) to understand traffic; manage preferences via your browser where applicable

Disabling essential storage may affect site functionality.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date. Significant changes will be notified as required by law.
